Relationship Coffee Fair Trade Case Study – Part 2 of 2
Second half of Sustainable Harvest Relationship Coffee Case Study. Sustainable Harvest is a for-profit coffee importer business with a strong social mission to provide sustainable, lasting markets for coffee farmers around the world.
As one of the largest fair trade coffee importers in the world, the price Sustainable Harvest pays growers is always well above the world commodity prices for coffee.
Relationship Coffee is built upon a foundation of transparency, full traceability, trade credit, total quality, and training.
Sustainable Harvest overseas farmer training offices help small-holder coffee growers to improve their quality and access higher paying markets.
As an importer of green specialty coffees from the top organic and fair trade farms from around the world, the company sells directly to coffee roaster/retailers.
Sustainable Harvest was the first importer to focus exclusively on organic, shade-grown, and fair trade specialty coffees. It was recognized by the Specialty Coffee ociation of America in 2006 for the creation and development of the idea called “Relationship Coffee”, as a new business model which has helped thousands of small coffee farmers and communities survive the recent coffee crisis.
The company remains the industry leader in building sustainable coffee trade relationships between growers and buyers.

Ordering Coffee Choice?
We are removing our coffee machine next week and replacing it with Bunn coffee makers. Corporate is giving us 3 choices…Folgers,Maxwell House or Hills Bros. Regular/decaf only, no ’specialties’ i.e. French vanilla, etc. What would be the best choice overall? Can’t mix-n-match either. Has to be all the same brand and must be ordered by the cases.
Approximately 500+ employee’s. I’m also sending out vote cards to thy employees/managers, but would like a Yahoo opinion also. Thanks in advance.
I’d go with Maxwell House. It’s the best brand name one that I have found for being an all around crowd-pleaser. I work in a restaurant and have tried many brands out on our patrons. Overall response was best with Maxwell House.
Hope that helps!
What brand of coffee do you like best and least?
Any reasons why are appreciated! If you don't drink coffee then no need to answer and I am not asking about specialty coffees… like lattes for example. Thanks!
Best:
8 O'Clock Columbian – I find it the best value for the dollar. I grind it fine and it makes a really good, rich cup o joe.
Least:
Maxwell House, Hills Bros, or any Folgers. If you like weak coffee, well have at it, but I personally don't like it.

Are there any Specialty Coffee Bean distributors in GA?
I am thinking about opening my own coffee shop in GA. I am currently researching to find if there are any specialty coffee bean distributors in GA. Can someone help me please?! I would consider distributors from some of the bordering states as well such as Alabama, Tennessee, and North and South Carolina. If i have missed any….those too.
Thanks in Advance
